Must See Fall TV 2011 Predictions
★ Two Broke Girls
Synopsis: Two waitresses in their twenties—Max, who comes from a poor working-class family, and Caroline, who was born rich but is now down on her luck—working together at a Brooklyn restaurant.
I’m calling it right now: this will be my favorite tv show of the season. The writing looks amazing and it’s from the creators of Sex and the City. Enough said.
Prediction: 6 seasons
★ Terra Nova
Synopsis: In the year 2149, a time when all life on planet Earth is threatened with extinction. In an effort to save the human race, scientists develop a time machine allowing people to travel 85 million years back in time to prehistoric Earth.
This. Looks. Amazing.
Prediction: 4 seasons
★ Pan Am
Synopsis: Pilots and flight attendants working for the world-famous airline in 1963.
Who doesn’t love a period piece with great writing? ABC spent $10 million of the first episode alone, 10 times the normal pilot price. With that, we know it’s guaranteed 1 season.
Prediction: 4 seasons
★ Playboy
Synopsis: Playboy club in the 1960s.
This show has all the elements to be a hit: great setting, costumes, and attractive actors, but it’s still missing the most important piece: the storyline.
Prediction: 2 seasons
★ Smash
Synopsis: The show revolves around a group of characters who come together to put on a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe.
This seems like my autobiography! Unfortunately, though, I don’t see many people watching this. It doesn’t case a wide enough net.
Prediction: 1 season
★ Awake
Synopsis: Police detective Michael Britten regains consciousness following a car accident involving his wife Hannah and his son Rex. Michael moves back and forth between two realities: in one, Rex survived while Hannah is dead; in the other, Hannah survived but Rex did not.
This is one of the most original plots. The storyline has an Inception feel. Let’s just pray it goes for more than one season!
Prediction: 2 seasons
★ Heart of Dixie
Synopsis: Dr. Zoe Hart as she moves to remote Bluebell, Alabama, when there are no jobs available for her in New York.
It’s Sweet Home Alabama on tv! Hey, what did you expect from CW? With One Tree Hill about to end, the network has got to fill up their line up.
Prediction: 4 seasons
★ Last Man Standing
Synopsis: Today it’s a woman’s world, and this man’s man is on a mission to get men back to their rightful place in society.
It’s Tim-the-Tool-Man-Taylor…but with daughter. I’d watch just for the Buzz Lightyear reference. Damn, I miss Home Improvement.
Prediction: 6 seasons
★ Are You There Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea
Synopsis: A comedy about a 20-something woman based loosely on Chelsea Handler’s life.
The book was hysterical and the trailer looks the same.
Prediction: 4 seasons
★ Whitney
Synopsis: The series follows the titular character, an opinionated woman and her very-supportive live-in boyfriend.
She shared my off beat sense of humor. I just hope others get it.
Prediction: 4 seasons
★ I Hate My Teenage Daughter
Synopsis: The show will follow two mothers who fear their daughters are turning into the kind of girls who tormented them in high school.
This show may scare me out of having children but I’ll watch anything Jaime Pressly is in! RIP My Name is Earl.
Prediction: 6 seasons
★ Up All Night
Synopsis: The show centers around a couple who struggle to balance their home lives (especially with their newborn child, Amy) and their work lives.
If I ever have a newborn, this will probably be my life. Plus, the return of Maya Rudolph!
Prediction: 5 seasons
★ Suburgatory
Synopsis: The series follows a divorced father who decides to get away from New York City to the suburbs so he can give his 16-year-old daughter a better life.
That’s my depiction of the suburbs.
Prediction: 2 seasons
★ Once Upon a Time
Synopsis: The series is loosely inspired by the classic fairy tale stories except set in the present day, hence the series name.
From the writers of Lost…so you know I’m watching!
Prediction: 3 seasons
★ Man Up
Synopsis: Three modern men try to get in touch with their inner tough guys and redefine what it means to be a “real man”.
Dan Fogler plans on stealing the show; just like did Zach Galifianakis in The Hangover.
Prediction: 3 seasons
★ Alcatraz
Synopsis: When San Francisco Police Department Det. Rebecca Madsen is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to Jack Sylvane, a former Alcatraz inmate who died decades ago.
Again, will watch because Lost’s producers are involved.
Prediction: 3 seasons
★ Scandal
Synopsis: Kerry Washington’s character Olivia Pope is partially based on former Bush administration press aide Judy Smith.
It has a political drama West Wing feel.
Prediction: 3 seasons
★ Revenge
Synopsis: Centers on a young woman who is welcomed into a community filled with people who don’t know she’s only there to exact revenge on those who had destroyed her family.
Will watch because there as only so many comedies…
Prediction 2 seasons
★ The Secret Circle
Synopsis: Set in the fictional town of Chance Harbor, Washington, the series will follow a California teenager who learns that she comes from a family of witches.
Based on an amazing book. You can blame Sabrina for my love of witches.
Prediction: 4 seasons
★ New Girl
Sysnopsis: Jess Day is an offbeat and adorable girl in her late 20s who, after a bad breakup, moves in with three single guys.
I’m concerned about the writing. How many show’s this season has the girl break up with guy plot in episode one? I’ve lost count. I’m also concerned Kim Kardashian sues the supporting actress.
Prediction: 4 seasons
You couldn’t pay me to watch: Charlie’s Angels, Work It, Apartment 23, A Gifted Man, Free Agents, Person of Interest, Grimm, Prime Suspects , and How to be a Gentleman
Hey, I respect your viewpoint on this- well done!
