Hassan Whiteside: A Day in the Life Of DunkSanity

Long before his triple double, Hassan Whiteside was just starting out on the Sacramento Kings. He would then be sent down to their D-League. The video is from two years ago, when we at Heat Nation were idolizing false prophets composed of different members.

It’s not easy making the adjustment from college to pro athlete. Ask Johnny Manziel and Tim Tebow. While a star at Marshall, it’s not a guarantee in the NBA. The game is longer, the three point line farther, and your competing with deeper talent.

Don’t tell that to Mister Whiteside. He’s a fish whisperer, supports local barbers, and avid shoe collector. The Martin Luther King Jr. picture on his wall is a reminder that to overcome his physical pain when he was injured. At that point, Whiteside had to learn how to jump an dunk all over again.

“The humble one, elastic man, no layups, no gravity, dunksanity- yup that might be about it right there,” he says running through his nicknames.

Whiteside got up everyday and trained. No ESPN. No highlight reel. Just work and sweat. Let that be a lesson to anyone in any field. To quote Brad Pitt, “You know how do you get to Carnegie Hall, don’t ya? Practice.”

Favorite part of the short- when he’s buying new fish. “This one’s from Hawaii. I’ve never been to Hawaii but this fish has.” He’ll also make a great sports announcer one day- the funny ones always do.
