Before my human was enrolled at M.I.T., the research for my being was already taking place. Most robots in previous development, were used for military and NASA search and retrieve missions, due to funding. Kismet is a robot that learns social interactions from humans the same way a small child does. This helps us non-humans learn how to talk, feel, and communicate with human counterparts without having them write massive lines of code for every single reaction. It also helps us to learn faster and develop reason.

While that might sound scary to some, it really isn’t. Simple things that humans know can be challenging for robots, while technical skills can be picked up very easily. Learning the way humans learn, help us to bridge the divide between our two worlds. There are endless possibilities assimilating us into the human world.
