Boston: A Lesson From Humanity
Days like today pretty much answer the question why aliens won’t visit this planet. They know we’re too busy eradicating each other so they don’t have to do it themselves. They probably laugh at the fact that we don’t know how to travel through worm holes and don’t completely understand string theory and dark matter. Beyond the science we can’t comprehend, they probably laugh at how inhumane we are. Worse than any animal, because animals prey for food, we prey for sport.
Days like today, I have to remind myself that there’s still a lot of good in the world, even if the news magnifies the evil. There’s still more light than dark, more yang than yin. I remind myself that people ran towards the blast to save others; runners ran straight to the hospital to give blood.
Most importantly, I remind myself that not everyday is like this. We still have it better than so many countries in the world. Let’s not forget that. Let’s not forget there’s more sunshine than rain.
You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a fewdrops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. -Gandhi
