Unless you live in Jacksonville or Buffalo, you won’t be able to watch this game on television. Are there other illegal channels-sure, but Yahoo just made things easy. The purple site will be streaming the game online which I have been calling for since 2007. Stream games outside of the Superbowl and pack them with your three hours of commercials. Roger Goodell, you still win!

Major League Baseball was the first sports industry to offer a comprehensive sports package where you get see most games minus blackouts for a monthly fee. I’d gladly pay for some of these services but if I give you money and you blackout a game, I still have to go to an illegal streaming site. Ultimately, what am I paying for? There are a heafty number of home games that qualify for blackouts. “Oh but you can turn on your VPN!” But I paid for a service, I shouldn’t have to!

Back to Marissa Myers. Yahoo paid 17 million and will net 3 million in advertising from the game. With that kind of math, don’t look for Yahoo to stream again anytime soon. Google would net more from streaming and could pick up that price tag without a problem. Even if they come out for a loss on ads (which I doubt, they charge higher ad rates) football streaming on Youtube would be something they’d salivate over.

The NFL isn’t exactly looking for a digital presence. Their deal with Verizon for streaming shows proves that. One carrier paying for exclusivity isn’t the way to go. They do well with their television broadcasts but someone should tell them the future is here. Get on or get off. Just ask ESPN.

I leave you now with fashion, done right. Happy Sunday! Save the beer until ten. Let’s be classy.
